The Effect of Air Quality( CH4 and H2S) and Characteristic of Scavenger to Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) in Scavenger at Garbage Dump of Bukit Pinang Samarinda

ABSTRAK

Tercemarnya udara di sekitar TPA menyebabkan kesehatan lingkungan terganggu, seperti tercemarnya gas CH4, H2S dan gas-gas pencemar lainnya. Pencemaran udara di TPA dapat menyebabkan gangguan kesehatan, terutama meningkatkan penyakit-penyakit gangguan saluran pernapasan akut (ISPA). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Kualitas Udara (CH4 dan H2S) dan Karakteristik Pemulung terhadap ISPA Pada Pemulung di TPA Sampah Bukit Pinang Samarinda. Desain penelitian dengan pendekatan cross- sectional. 3 titik pengambilan sampel CH4 dan H2S dan responden sebanyak 52 orang yang dipilih menggunakan purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data meliputi pengukuran CH4 dan H2S wawancara dan observasi mengenai kejadian ISPA. Analisis data menggunakan Uji Paired T- Test dengan tingkat kepercayaan 90%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan konsentrasi CH4 dan H2S di TPA Bukit Pinang Samarinda yaitu terukur kadar Hidro Carbon (HC) yang didalamnya terdapat CH4 pada titik sampel I 338,506 μg/Nm³ berada di atas baku mutu, titik sampel II 1,473 μg/Nm³ dan titik sampel III 0,568 μg/Nm³ berada di bawah baku mutu. Hasil uji Paired T – Test menunjukkan ada pengaruh kadar HC dengan kejadian ISPA ( value=0.000). Untuk kadar H2S pada titik sampel I 0,0003 ppm, titik sampel II 0,0006 ppm, titik sampel III 0,0014 ppm. Hasil ukur H2S dari ketiga titik sampel masih berada di bawah baku mutu dan ada pengaruh kadar H2S terhadap ISPA ( value = 0.000). Disarankan agar ada penertiban terhadap pemulung oleh Dinas Kebersihan dan Pertamanan Kota Samarinda yang ada di TPA Bukit Pinang Samarinda untuk menurunkan angka ISPA, karena terdapat banyak pencemaran udara pada TPA tersebut.

ABSTRACT

The air pollution in the garbage dump gave the bad effect for the environmental health , such as the pollution of CH4, H2S, and the other polluted gases. It also could cause some diseases, especially Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI). This research wanted to know the air quality (CH4 and H2S) and the characteristic of the scavengers to Acute Respiratory Infection in scavengers at the garbage dump of bukit pinang samarinda. The research design was cross-sectional approach. There were 3 points to take the sample of CH4 and H2S and 52 participants that were chosen by using purposive sampling. The data collections were the measurement of CH4 and H2S, interview and observation about Acute Respiratory Infection. The data analysis used paired T-Test with 90 % confidence level. The research showed the concentrate of CH4 and H2S in the garbage dump of bukit pinang samarinda, there was Hidro Carbon (HC) in CH4 at the sample point I 338,506 μg/Nm³ that was above the standard quality, sample point II 1,473 μg/Nm³, and sample point III 0,568 μg/Nm³ that was under the standard quality. The result showed that there was an effect of the Hidro Carbon (HC) amount to the Acute respiratory infection ( value=0.000). The amount of H2S at the sample point I was 0,0003 ppm, sample point II was 0.0006 ppm, and sample point III was 0,0014 ppm. The measurement of H2S for the three sample point was under the standard quality and there was an effect of H2S to acute respiratory infection ( value = 0,000). There was a suggestion for the Department of Sanitation and Horticulture Samarinda in order to control the scavengers in the garbage dump of Bukit Pinang Samarinda in order to reduce the Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) because of the air pollution in the garbage dump.
